Justice or Neglect?

Jill in 04

Jill May (above) was burned to death by two other women in Candlestick Park (now, appropriately "Monster Park") in January of this year. She was a homeless person, but don't mistake that for forgotten.

At her funeral, one of her children wrote:

We will keep you in our hearts ‘til we are called home
Where we’ll meet and finally have that happy home
The place that we have always wanted
But never really known
The place where we will have our Mother
This is the place we will call home

The two suspected murderers were arrested and charged with special circumstances murder.

The Chronicle Article about the case is still available at

I wrote about the case with concern because, following the arrest, the case went into legal orbit.

My article is "A murder in Candlestick Park" - http://www.jaygaskill.com/blog1/ - June 27, 207. The direct link is >  http://jaygaskill.com/blog1/2007/06/a_murder_in_candlestick _park.html .  .  .

There has been nothing reported since March when a DA said that the case was going ahead despite the death of a key witness....

Justice delayed is often justice in deep trouble.  I believe that the two reporters who were originally assigned the case can be reached via email as follows:

Heather Knight at hknight@sfchronicle.com  and Jaxon Van Derbeken at jvanderbeken@sfchronicle.com .

Too bad this wasn't a celebrity killing.  Am I the only one who smells something going very, very wrong here?
